"Never Let Them Tell You That You're Not Good Enough: The Story of Overcoming Rejection and Achieving Success"
We've all faced rejection at some point, but it can feel incredibly personal for many of us in the modeling industry. When someone tells you that you're not pretty enough or that you'll never make it, it's easy to start doubting yourself and wondering if all the hard work you've put in has been for nothing.
But the truth is, rejection is just a part of the journey and doesn't define you or your worth. It's important to remember that every great success story is built on the foundation of countless rejections and failures.
The key is never to give up and keep pushing forward, even when the odds are against you.
That's precisely what happened to me when I was told that I wouldn't model for Sports Illustrated because they "just didn't want me" and that I wasn't pretty enough. It was a devastating blow, but I refused to let it break me. Instead, I used it as fuel to motivate me to work even harder and prove everyone wrong.
And that's precisely what I did. I continued to grind, putting in long hours rebranding and on photo shoots, perfecting my craft, and building my following. I networked, put myself out there, and never gave up on my dream.
And then, one day, everything changed. I got a call that would change my life forever: I had booked a significant campaign with Sports Illustrated. It was the opportunity of a lifetime, proving that all my hard work had paid off.
Sports Illustrated wanted me and my book The Modeling Guide for Every Body to be featured in their Forever 21 collaboration giving me my swimwear collection. This was an absolute honor because I want girls to know they are beautiful even if they are not a size 2. What also made it feel special was that I worked for this opportunity without knowing that writing this book would lead me here, right where I wanted to be. And the best part was inspiring other girls and reaching a new audience on a bigger scale.
But more importantly, it showed me that anything is possible if you believe in yourself and never give up. No matter what people say or how many rejections you face, you can overcome them and achieve your dreams.
So, if you're facing rejection or feeling discouraged, remember you can do anything. Keep pushing forward, never give up, and believe in yourself. Your time to shine will come, just like it did for me.
